where it lived
The site dates from March 18th, 1994, well before the archive that preserved it — the earliest capture of any of it is from 1998, so everything on this site comes from 1998 onwards.

seven designs
- The Calliander Web Site (1998) — white, gradient tile, Arial and Comic Sans, “Calliander Web Productions”.
- Callianderville (1999) — 500px column, black rules top and bottom, status-bar tricks in JavaScript, built with something called the “Calliander Structure HTML Design System”.
- frames-without-frames (2000–01) — black page, grey panels, mustard links, a section bar across the top and a subsection rail down the left. Announced as “redesign number 32,196”.
- press any key (2002) — white page, image rollover linkbar with bracket end-caps.
- minimal centered (2003) — 600px column and a plain
text nav:

- XHTML and CSS (2005) — query-string pages, hand-built in BBEdit 8 and Photoshop CS, “insert witty tagline here”.
Later incarnations — a forum, a blog, an off-the-shelf theme, a static JavaScript build — are outside what this recreation covers.
what was left out
- Anything identifying. Names, places, employers, contact details and photographs have been removed, both the author's own and other people's. Several pages are shorter than they were because of it.
- The pictures and rants sections, which are not part of this recreation.
- The large binaries — MP3s, ROMs, video and Flash. Their listings are reproduced; the files were deliberately not mirrored.
- Outbound links. The links page is kept as a record but no longer links anywhere: of the sites listed, twelve are still live, and several of the rest now resolve to parked domains or to businesses with no connection to what was originally listed.
how it was recovered
846 captures were mirrored from the Internet Archive across all four addresses. Pages were decoded as Windows-1252, the encoding they were written in, and each rebuilt page is checked against the snapshot it came from so that the surviving text still matches word for word.
